|REMOVING DEBRIS FROM POTS AND PANS:
I read an e-mail that fabric softener dryer sheets remove grease and burned on food from
pots and pans. I do not use dryer sheets, so I bought a small package of store (generic) brand
dryer sheets. I had a broiler pan that had stubborn chars. I placed the pan in water with vinegar
and Dawn dishwashing liquid. The dryer sheet removed the broiled-on debris. I used it on
a stainless steel pot with burned oatmeal...worked for that too! Always wash again in a fresh
sink of Dawn and vinegar before using or storing. I don't know WHAT is IN those dryer sheets.
|ADD VINEGAR TO DISHWATER:
A friend told me this was an old antique dealer trick. Add a shot of vinegar to a sink of water
with your favorite dishwashing liquid when hand-washing dishes. I do this every day.
It makes things clean and shiny. I hear say it helps as a disinfectant. ( I do not have back-up for
that claim.) All I know, it makes a difference.
|ADD BAKING SODA TO LAUNDRY:
This helps remove odors (urine) and helps with some stains. I add a handful to each load.
I buy 12 lb. bags of Arm & Hammer baking soda from Sam's.
Once a month a run a wash cycle with plain water and one cup of vinegar to "cleanse" the
machine. This also helps keep the drains flowing, because baking soda and vinegar reacts to
help open drains. (remember volcano science projects?)
|WASH TINS WITH MURPHY'S OIL SOAP.
I have a household tin collection. I found after washing with vinegar and Dawn, I wash again
with Murphy's oil soap. It seems to prevent rust. LET AIR DRY OVERNIGHT.
|WASH CARE WITH MURPHY'S OIL SOAP.
My friend told me about this. Works great! No reason to buy a special car detergent.
She likes to soap up her car her car in the rain, and let mother nature rinse it off,
to conserve potable water. I add one tablespoon to one gallon of water.
MINERAL OIL helps preserve white wall tires.
|ADD ONE CUP BAKING SODA AND ONE CUP VINEGAR TO OPEN SLOW DRAIN
First run hot water for two minutes. When sink/tub empty pour baking soda on drain opening
and pour vinegar on top. This will fizz and bubble. I add extra vinegar to wash remaing baking
soda when necessary. Wait five minutes, then run hot water for two minutes.
I have success using boiling water. You must be careful if you have plastic drain pipe. Boiling
water can melt plastic drain pipe, so use hot tap water in that case.
|I did not back up my hard drive. My computer crashed. I lost all my programs and some
important files. I was very very sorry! My friend gave me a portable hard drive for Christmas.
I back-up often. That works for me!.
